Tom Yates

Board Secretary

Tom is a practicing lawyer at a top commercial law firm, advising key New Zealand and international clients on a range of complex financial transactions, with a particular focus on debt capital markets and sustainable finance.

Tom is the newest addition to the NCF Board in his role as Secretary. His love for helping was inspired by incredible roles in recent years, including a winter in the French Alps nannying for a young boy challenged by major learning disabilities and cochlear implants, alongside several years of assisting a middle aged male in Dunedin with severe cerebral palsy in his everyday life.

Tom also brings not for profit experience from his position as an Executive of the inaugural Student Volunteer Army chapter in Dunedin, and has a personal interest in the Neuro Connection Foundation following his mum's Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis in 2019.

This is Tom's first Board involvement, and he is looking forward to employing his legal skills and his relentless positivity as the NCF grows and continues to provide a crucial service to clients with neurological diseases.
