Meet Clive
Client since 2011
After having a stroke in December 2010 at the age of 56, Clive was left with partial paralysis on his right side. Determined to stay active and independent, he began attending classes at Neuro Connection in May 2011.
Early on, Clive worked hard to build balance and strength. He let go of his walking stick as he learned new strategies for stability, and gradually increased movement in his right arm and shoulder. Over time, he’s regained control in his hand and can now do everyday tasks like vacuuming, cleaning, mowing the lawn, and hanging out washing - an incredible achievement for someone living on their own.
Not one to let physical limitations slow him down, Clive took up cycling to get around. For eight years, he used a pedal bike to reach shops and cafes. When that became more tiring, he upgraded to an E-bike in 2018 - and hasn’t looked back since.
Clive continues to attend classes twice a week to maintain his progress and stay connected with others. His positive attitude, commitment, and drive to remain self-sufficient make him a familiar and much-loved face at the centre.
We’re always delighted to spot him zooming around Henderson on his bike — living life on his own terms, with strength and good humour.
